• Haiti Earthquake 12 Jan 10 (will not be forgotten)

    Hope and change for Haiti

HACAOT, a 501 C3 non-profit organization operated by a small staff of volunteers, is actively involved and engaged to assist our brothers and sisters from Haiti. The situation is so grave that if we don’t act now thousands could loose their lives in the months ahead.

It's been well overdue. For years the Haitian community here in Central Texas has contemplated the idea of creating an organization with the mission of not only to help Haitian immigrants residing in New York, Florida, and Texas, but also to provide humanitarian assistance for the mother land Haiti and else where.

In March 2005, the decision was made to create an Organization through a series of meetings. Thanks to the leadership of Raymond Obas, Alain M. Ferere, Jean Tancrede, Pierre R Poteau, Gaetan Mentor and the relentless effort of Athalie and Wilfrid Desir, Ginette Richard, Frankie Domanite, Primerose Ferere, Samuel Ladouceur, Vertilus J. Servius; they have organized funds raising activities with the goal of officially registering the newly created Organization with the State of Texas as a non-profit Organization. Read more

HACAOT May 2010 MissionHACAOT May Mission in Haiti

Our May 2010 humanitarian mission to feed over 2000 hot plates and drinks for one week period was a success.  Five (5) members of HACAOT went to Haiti and worked frivolously for one week to feed the children of “La Petite Anse “a very small and poor neighborhood in Haiti.
At the end of the week, the president of the Rotary Club International of Cap Haitian, Mrs. Magarette George, was extremely satisfied of our humanitarian mission.

While one HACAOT team was in Haiti, the rest of us in United States continued to plan and inventoried our donated supplies to be ship in Haiti for our big Medical Mission scheduled now to happen in October 2010. Due to bad weather in Texas and the lack of volunteers our packing and inventory has been very slow.

However HACAOT management staff is still planning to send the container in Haiti by next month at the latest. In addition we are working in establishing and register HACAOT officially in Haiti, which will facilitate the transportation of goods in Haiti and exempt the organization from tax in Haiti.

Our Portland representative Mr. Bernard Ferere will travel to Haiti on June 5th for a one month period to help us not only with our Moringa project but also set up our main office in Haiti while using the opportunity to feed 200 children in the locality of "Bel Air" and “Plaine Du Nord".

HACAOT is seeking support and sponsorship for our Moringa project, our medical staff has presented our project to Mayo Health Systems in USA, so far the feedback are positive and we are looking forward to work with Mayo Health systems in Haiti.

Our chief Medical staff Mrs. Mary Fargen along with our CEO Mr. Alain M Ferere, are planning to travel to Ghana Africa, for further study of a successful Moringa project already implemented over-there. Both HACAOT staff members are planning to travel in Africa next August.

Hurricane season has now started and the predictions are more than ever disastrous for the Caribbean islands especially Haiti. People are still leaving in tents and the rebuilding effort is extremely slow. Haiti is no longer in the spot light as a result assistance has also slowed down, but HACAOT has more than ever been active. Since last November we have organized four humanitarian missions in Haiti with a 5th one under way. We are asking the public to be generous and help us continue helping Haiti by donating to HACAOT.

PLEASE DONATE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF THE HAITIAN PEOPLE.

HACAOT CEO & a group of Ellison High School StudentsA group of students from Ellison High School participating to the leadership Academy Program is supporting HACAOT by doing food drive and volunteering to help the organization do fund raising activities.

Mr. Dony Williams who is a teacher and in charge of the Academy Program said " The students of Ellison High School are very excited and happy to work with HACAOT."

The two young students Ms. Jenna Diederich and Vanisha Weatherspoon who are part of the leadership Program are committed to support HACAOT.

Both Jenna and Vanisha had the opportunity to meet with Xavier Mentor from Haiti also a student of Ellison High School. Xavier and his sister Coralie since the earthquake have been living with Mr. Ferere here in Killeen and also help HACAOT staff in organizing our donated items.

All three students, Jenna, Vanisha and Xavier are doing a big difference in the life of so many in Haiti; their effort should be emulate by today's youth.

News & Events

Our HACAOT medical group along with our support staff will travel in Haiti in October 2010 to provide free medical service, clothes distribution, and feed about 4000 people for a 2 week period. In addition to donating supplies and feeding to the children of Haiti, HACAOT staff will initiate a forestation program in May by planting trees.
